Mastodon Tips

#Adult Friendly Servers

# Before the Aethy mastodon server closed, I spent a few days looking for other adult-friendly Mastodon servers. Here’s a list of what I found.

#Looking up Porn Laws

#How to search

# Search your list of followers and people you’re following to find people on other adult instances.

# Some adult instances have a “federation” tab that lists other instances they federate with. Not all of them will be adult servers, but some will be so this can give you more places to check out… This is not to be confused with the “moderated” tab which lists servers that they block.

# The search engine on mastodon.help for “adult” turns up one or two useful results, but not many.

# Adult mastodon instances can be tricky to find through the usual mastodon introductory websites. This is inconvenient, but also comforting in a way. This tends to shield adult instances from too much visibility.

#How to Migrate Between Mastodon Instances

# More info here

# Migrating means that all of your old followers will automatically follow your new mastodon account instead of your old one. They don’t even have to do anything. But this does NOT copy all of your old posts. If you uploaded a bunch of pictures and forgot to back them up, you can “Download your archive” from the old mastodon instance.

# To migrate you need to have another mastodon account on a new server somewhere, and the old server needs to still be online. You cannot do this if the old instance closes unexpectedly. So assuming you didn’t wait too long, migrating is easy to do.
