The theory behind presenting a story like this is that getting anybody to read a story requires 2 things:
#Interest

I personally need a picture to read about, otherwise a post doesn’t stand-out and just looks like more text on a page already covered in other text.
#Convenience

Ideally, the entire story would already be in front of the reader, so they can start reading with zero effort, but since that would be way too long and overwhelming, just show an interesting excerpt instead.

And it’s obvious that you’re posting a story if you make it look like a book. I’ve always loved the idea of skeuomorphism. If you make something look like a real-world object, then everybody will intuitively understand what it is. This almost backfired for this post. It looked like all my other stories, so I had to add a Photoshop window around it.
