I’m currently experimenting with skipping anti-aliasing for larger pictures since the effect is not very noticeable at these sizes anyway. And besides, some people actually prefer crunchy pixels. I suppose this might have a certain “cartoony” appeal? I’ve been so blinded by the notion of 16-bit fidelity VS “inferior” 8-bit graphics that it never actually occurred to me that this could be a stylistic choice.

I tried making this picture sort of a “minimum viable product”. A sprite generally needs at least simple cell shading to look “finished”, and to save time I also tried experimenting with a 100 x 100 size. After all if I wanted to use this as the thumbnail I could just double the scale. Miraculously this was just barely big enough to fit all the necessary details without needing to anti-alias. That is kind of an accomplishment, but this looks a little too low-fidelity for my tastes. It’s lazy and it shows.
