They say a butler is “a gentleman’s gentleman.” So what would be “the pet of a pet?” I had an idea about a snobby rich family getting a pet for their pet dog, and then my mind went to the usual places… straight into the gutter! (If I was psychic, I’d be terrible at bowling) I think part of the idea also came from these pictures too.

The rest was just a matter of figuring out the details of how a situation like this could happen. As usual, a naive character can walk right into this situation, but it also helps to have an equally clueless rich family who’s out-of-touch and arrogant enough to think something like this would make sense. I had some fun writing their dialog. And of course, heaping wads of money can distract anybody else who would have common-sense in the story. The “greedy mom” trope is starting to become a cliche in my stories.
